The Group is leader in Italy and Assicurazioni Generali, founded in 1831 in Trieste, is the Group's Parent and principal operating Company.

Characterised from the very outset by a strong international outlook and now present in more than 60 Countries, Generali has consolidated its position among the world's leading insurance operators, with significant market shares in western Europe - its main area of activity - and particularly in Germany, France, Austria, Spain and Switzerland. It also holds a strong market position in Argentina.
 
In recent years, the Group has made a significant return to 14 central-eastern European countries and has set up offices in the main markets of the Far East, among which India and China; in particular, in China it has become just after few years of operation the leader among the insurance companies with foreign equity interests.
  
In its core insurance business, the Generali Group is primarily focused on the life segment, where it is the European leader. Its product line consists mainly of savings and protection policies, which account for the majority of the portfolio, alongside health business and supplementary pension policies.
 
In the non-life segment, the Group is primarily focused on the retail market, where it provides an extensive range of insurance products.
  
In addition, Generali is among the world's major players in the field of assistance, through the Europ Assistance Group, which provides worldwide services in the motor, travel, health, home and family lines of business.  The Group has since long widened its product offerings to include the entire range of financial and real estate services as well as asset management.
 
Along with traditional channels, the Group focuses on developing innovative channels. The Group is leader in the direct channel (internet and telephone) in Italy, France and Germany.

The Sub-fund actively invests worldwide in fully paid equity securities of companies concerned with the finiteness of natural resources and the optimal supply and cross-selling of primary services like energy, water, gas, waste and telecommunication, mainly listed on stock exchanges of members of the OECD (qualifying as Regulated Markets). These companies belong primarily to the utilities, energy and telecommunications universe (referred herein as “multi utilities”).
